Privacy Notice

Protecting data that protects the public

UAVP operates critical national infrastructure. We handle personal and property information with the highest level of care, guided by Nigerian law, global best practice, and our commitment to safeguarding every citizen.

Effective date: 15 February 2025

1. What this policy covers

This Privacy Notice explains how the Unified Address Verification Platform (“UAVP”, “we”, “our”, “us”) processes personal data when delivering verification, identity management, and property compliance services.

It applies to government agencies, private institutions, community partners, landlords, tenants, field agents, and citizens who interact with our platform, APIs, field operations, or support teams.

2. Data we collect

We collect information that enables us to verify addresses, authenticate identities, and maintain compliance records. This includes personal identifiers, contact details, property documents, geospatial evidence, biometrics (where required by law), device metadata, and operational logs.

We obtain data directly from users, through authorised government or regulatory integrations, and via field inspections conducted by accredited officers.

3. How we use data

To deliver mandated verification services, issue certificates, and provide real-time status updates to authorised stakeholders.

To meet legal and regulatory obligations, including KYC/AML, counter-fraud, emergency response, and public safety requirements.

To improve service quality, audit field operations, monitor system security, and develop new capabilities requested by our partners.

4. Lawful basis & consent

Processing is carried out on the basis of legal mandate, legitimate interest in secure service delivery, performance of a contract, or explicit consent when required.

Where we rely on consent, users may withdraw at any time through the citizen portal or by contacting our Data Protection Officer (DPO). Withdrawal does not affect processing completed before the request.

5. Data sharing & transfers

Data is shared only with authorised government agencies, licensed partners, or service providers who support our operations under strict confidentiality and security agreements.

We host and back up data within the Federal Republic of Nigeria, applying industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. Cross-border transfers occur only where adequate protections exist and with the approval of relevant regulators.

6. Retention & security

Records are retained in line with statutory requirements for public administration, financial compliance, and investigative support.

We apply layered security controls, including role-based access, immutable audit logs, continuous monitoring, and regular penetration testing. Incidents are managed under our Security Operations Plan with mandatory regulator notifications where applicable.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable laws, you can request access to personal data we hold about you, ask for corrections, raise objections, or request deletion where legally permissible.

Submit requests via the citizen portal or by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within statutory timeframes and may require additional verification to protect your data.
